Carocell solar distillation / purification technology

F CUBED has developed the worlds leading low cost and environmentally friendly Carocell solar desalinating technology. The Carocell panels use solar energy distill the contaminated water (evaporation and condensation inside the panel) a natural water purification method that has been used for centuries.

Carocell direct solar distillation technology emits no green house gas emissions, uses no chemicals, no costly membranes, no filters, no electronics and no ongoing power source is required other than solar radiation.

Carocell produces safe, high quality potable water from any source including seawater Ie desalination), surface water, groundwater (bores or wells) or any other contaminated or polluted water.

The standard installation is racked together in a series of Carocell panels called a Carocell Water Farm which enables rainwater harvesting to supplement the output from the panels. The water farms are modular and therefore can be expanded to any size for greater output.

The water farms offer a no maintenance off-grid solution for rural or remote areas or islands.

Carocell’s increased efficiency (65% with peak efficiencies above 80%) over other solar distillation products (30 – 40%) is a combination of the proprietary materials used to dramatically increase the temperature of the feed water on the solar collector which enhances the evaporation / condensation processes inside the panel.

Additionally, sophisticated geometrical design allowing for easy maintenance, optimum performance and a self-controlling natural convection loop enabling widely superior energy recovery.

The panels can be arranged to extract valuable minerals during the water purification process such as Lithium or salt and can readily achieve Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)

How It Works

The system receives impure water through pump or gravity feed and disperses it evenly. Solar energy heats the water, it vaporizes and then condenses on the inside of the composite plastic panel enclosure. Droplets of distilled water run down into a pure water outlet at the bottom of the unit. Greater efficiency of purified water output has been achieved through the unique distillation system design.

The design includes composite layers of the water-tight panel enclosure and the surface treatment of the solar collector. As well as allowing the moist air to circulate the solar collector to produce condensate on the interior front and back surfaces of the enclosing panel.

Carocell Direct Solar Desalination is a unique patented modular panel that has the capability of producing millions and millions of litres of pure distilled water per day. Alternatively Carocell – Direct Solar Desalination can be used for smaller domestic, rural and village applications.
